Sat, 12 April 2008 What the heck is going on? We take two months off and come back with back to back episodes! We continue Back in the Day 1989 with the Top 10 Songs of 89, and we also talk about the television shows that ended and began. In the news we talk about the chance that Superman could be sold to Marvel Comics, and we also talk about in game advertising in MMORPG City of Heroes. The comic that we reference is from Crispy Gamer and can be found here http://www.crispygamer.com/comics/backward/. The Creator Spotlight is a surprise this week, so you have to listen to the show to find out who it is. And we finish the show with a Preview of Iron Man the Movie coming out from Marvel Studios in May.Comments[0] |
Mon, 7 April 2008 Hey, were back! That's right, it took Matt and Jeff over two months, but they finally have a new show. We made some changes to the format a little bit with some fun new segments that had us talking for over an hour. Each week we will highlight some news stories in Net News, go back in time with Back in the Day, focus on a different creator each week in Creator Spotlight, do a different review each week with Review, and Preview something that we are looking forward to. In Net News we talk about an article on Wired.com featuring celebrities as D&D characters, a girl getting attacked by a hawk at a Red Sox game, and a scientist believes we will be able to teleport and time travel in a few short decades. Back in the Day focuses on the year 1989, in part one we talk about who was born that year, what are some of the news highlights, and we talk about all the classic movies that came out that year. Part two will be next week. In Creator Spotlight we remember Gary Gygax. We review Secret Invasion #1 and Preview Dawn of War 2.Comments[0] |
Mon, 28 January 2008 This week's episode can be summed up by two main topics, Digital Downloads and Media Stupidity. We talk about the effect on the release of The Dark Knight with Heath Ledger's passing. We also talk about the news story that ran on Fox News about Mass Effect and nudity and the comments made my author Cooper Lawrence and the fallout that came afterwards. The main bit of topic is Digital Downloads and the ongoing war against Internet Piracy and Matt and Jeff give their opinions on what companies such as Marvel Comics need to do to survive in the world of Digital Downloads and think ahead to the future.Comments[0] |

Mon, 24 December 2007 All right. So if you have been a fan of 30 Minutes with Friends, that show is now over. We just felt like we had run out of ideas and our passion for it, and decided it was better to walk away. But that does not mean that Farley is done podcasting. This is first episode of the new podcast Barely Coherent Podcast. We are keeping all the old 30MWF shows, so if you are new to both shows, feel free to check out the old episodes. This week we introduce Matt and Jeff as the co-hosts for Barely Coherent and we talk about new movie trailers, comic books, DVD's, and more. In Scuttlebutt we discuss Hellboy 2 The Golden Army, Batman The Dark Knight, Justice League A New Frontier, Semi-Pro (the new Will Farrell movie), and the end of the show Journeyman on NBC. We also send out our thoughts and prayers to Erick Wujcik and family, as it has been discovered that he suffering from Cancer. We hope you get well soon. In Farley's Corner he gives us comic book reviews for Incredible Hulk #112 and Exiles #100, as well as his picks of the week. And in Retro Reviews we review Runaways Vol. 1 HC edition. Great book, highly recommended.Comments[0] |
Mon, 5 November 2007 This week's show, we were going to talk about the November Elections next year and the chance that we will have the first black president or first woman president. BUT. Then the Writers Guild went on Strike. As you are hearing this show the Writers Guild in Hollywood has gone on strike, and almost every thing on tv will be affected. Heroes will be wrapping up in December, what about LOST and 24? What about movies in development? Listen to the show for details, and all will be revealed.Comments[0] |
